I joined PGS Law in March 2023 as a solicitor in the Private Client department. Since qualifying as a Solicitor, I have worked for a large national firm in Newcastle upon Tyne in the Estate Planning Team and at a Sunderland firm as the Head of their Private Client team.
I assist clients with their Wills, succession and tax planning, powers of attorney and the administration of estates when someone has died. I deal with a wide variety of estates, including those liable to Inheritance Tax, intestate estates (where the deceased did not leave a Will) and advising beneficiaries about varying their entitlement under a Deed of Variation.
I also act as a Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection, and I have been appointed as attorney for a number of vulnerable clients.
I have been a trustee of Grace House North East since 2019, a charity working to enrich the lives of children, young people and their families. I also undertake regular pro bono work for other charities.
I graduated from Northumbria University in 2009 with an LL.B. (Hons) and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course in 2011. I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2012 and went on to qualify as a solicitor in 2016.
I am an affiliate member of the highly regarded Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP). STEP is the leading worldwide professional association for practitioners dealing with family inheritance and succession planning.
I am a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE). SFE is an independent organisation that provides specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers.
In 2018, I became a Dementia Friend. The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends initiative educates people to understand the condition and aims to inform the perception people have about dementia.
I advise clients on all aspects of private client law and in particular I specialise in the administration of estates. I also have a particular interest in issues affecting elderly and vulnerable clients.
